Kalyan Karmakar is a person of food.
He looks for stories in food and when he finds one, he has to tell it.
His blog, Finely Chopped, started in 2007, making him one of the pioneer food bloggers in the country. His chronicles of eating across India were compiled into a book called The Travelling Belly, published By Hachette India.
In 2021, he started a podcast called Foodocracy For Her. This is India’s only podcast dedicated to women in the F&B industry. He champions home chefs and family-run restaurants wholeheartedly through his writings and his content. He runs a Home Chef Studio programme along with Upper Crust Magazine. ‘Home Cheffies’, India’s first awards to measure the brand strength of Home Chefs, was his baby.
He creates a video series specifically for social media, that showcases the unique culinary heritage of Mumbai.
He started his career as a marketing-insights professional and he dips into that knowledge when he consults food brands on market trends, new launches and workshopping.
Winner of food and hospitality awards across many years, Kalyan believes it’s his duty to taste everything there is to taste in this world.
He lives in Mumbai with his wife and his two cats. He feeds them well.
