I was in a bit of a dilemma this evening.
I woke up from a nap and felt like having a chaat. Either a samosa or a kachori chaat at Punjab Sweet House at Pali Naka on my way to Freeda’s for a shave.
It began to pour as I set out. This didn’t deter me. I follow things through once I fix my mind on it. As long as it involves food. Good food.
I stopped at the Punjab Sweets despite the downpour. I ordered a dahi samosa chaat though I am more fond of kachori chaat. The samosa in the samosa chaat is freshly fried and adds a certain warmth which clashes with the cold dahi. No such problem with the kachori chaat where the temperature is even.
I ordered a samosa chaat as a samosa seemed just the thing to have in the rains. The chaat was nice. But something was missing.

What the hell, I thought and bought a samosa. I clicked it for Instagram first. There was a traffic pileup with and autorickshaw banging into a Merc in front of me. There was a lot of commotion with folks from the shop rushing out to see what happened.
I only had eyes for my samosa.
I took my first bite. I knew that I had made the right decision. Just the chaat by itself would have made life feel incomplete.
