I belong to a generation which wrote essays titled, ‘computers boom or bane?’; got used to receiving and writing emails while terms such as postcard, aero mail, inland letter, became obsolete; when one phoned people from ‘STD’ booths and no, it’s not what you think it was; sent and received greeting cards instead of WhatsApp forwards.
Things change, one accepts them and moves on.
I met a friend and former colleague for a breakfast of Amritsari Kulcha, gobi paratha and sugar with curd added (lassi) at Bandra’s Punjab Sweet House on Sunday.
We spoke about various things including AI and the impact it’s making on the world around us, including in our areas at work. A topic which might become a non-issue sooner than later. We consoled ourselves by saying that there are a few things where you still need the human brain; and parted pensively.

The discussion came back to me at the gym today. I had engaged a personal trainer when I had joined the gym. I decided to fly solo after the term ended as I did not see much value in it.
I put detailed prompts on ChatGPT to devise exercise plans, used YouTube videos to understand the exercises, took the assistance of floor trainers, but the results were patchy.

I decided to try personal training again. This time the trainer spent time understanding what my issues were and worked accordingly on our first session, explaining what we were doing. This was was pleasantly different from my earlier experience with PTs. Personal trainers are expensive but the session seemed more sound than my Chat GPT experiences. Let’s see how things go.
I wonder if a time will come when AI will generates hot and tasty kulchas. Let’s circle back two years from now and see. Or shall we get our answers earlier?
