Eedu shows the way. Omelette by K

The closest thing to anything Parsi that I ate today was the omelette that I requested K to make for me this morning. Flat and well done like a poro, which is just what I wanted. No spices of course, as I am recovering from a stomach bug.

Possibly the first Parsi New Year, since I married a bawi, on which I have no Parsi food escapades to share with you.

Pictures sent by Masi of the food we sent
Hopefully we will meet the family next year

Eighth by Anurita

I lived vicariously though through the lagan nu cheesecake that we ordered from Nicole Mody of Comida World, the prawn patio kevabs and patra ni machhi from Shubhasree Basu’s Hungry Cat Kitchen’s Apru Parsi Kitchen, veg pulao dal, salli paneer, egg sandwich and caramel custard from Parsi Da Dhaba and (not Parsi) eggless tarts and cookies from Anurita Ghoshal’s Eighth by Anurita for friends, family, neighbours and K of course.

Murgir jhol

I had Didu’s shaada alur jhol with haathe kora ruti for lunch and for dinner the Bengali patla murgir jhol bhaat which is a cousin of the Parsi margi nu raas chawal. My recipes. Put together by Banu.

K had the patra ni machhi for dinner and enjoyed it and couldn’t stop praising the kevabs she had for lunch. We wore new clothes and took a selfie. What was Cawasjee Loaf and Behramjee Nimki’s gifts for me?

Well Loaf ate his dinner and Nimki let me eat my dinner, as K put it.

It’s been a rough week health-wise with my mom in law getting malaria, then my tummy trouble and today we got to know that my brother has dengue. I am using the phone to type most of this in.

So my wishes for all on the Parsi new year is good health and happiness. Saal Mubarak folks. Take care. Hope to be back with regular programming next year and celebrate the day with family as we usually do. As I hope would be some of our favourite home chefs who took a break this year for personal issues.
