I went to the gym early today as we were to meet friends for lunch. I had just began my warm up when I got to know that the lunch was pushed to another day. ‘Let’s go to Vanilla Miel for breakfast once I am back,’ I messaged K before I started to squat. It was ‘legs day.’
Vanilla Miel was quite empty when we reached. The whole of Bandra is out of town this week for diwali. This is the time to visit places which are hard to get a table at otherwise. I didn’t see a queue outside Benne this afternoon for example. Which is unthinkable.
We snared a table by the window which looked onto the quaint cottages of Pali Village. The table is taken when we come here on other days. It was a diwali gift of sorts today.
I called for a croissant. And a side of bacon. I asked them to slice the croissant and tuck the bacon in between. I believe in minimalism and this had my heart.

K had a tasty, and lot less sinful, Lebanese toast (sourdough topped with hummus, cucumber, cherry tomatoes). We had breakfast at one and then called for our coffees. Espresso for me. Cappuccino in a takeaway cup for her. We had the place to ourselves by the time we finished.
