Kainaz and me at Holy Family, Bandra |
Seemed like a pipe dream same time last year, but it’s a reality now and we went and got our first vaccine jabs today. Cannot thank all who worked towards making the vaccines happen enough and the staff executing it too.
Hopefully this was the first step towards reclaiming our lives. No letting ones guards down for now. It’s #stayhome #maskup when out, #washhands at all times, maintain #socialdistancing when with people. Even after you are done with both vaccines.
We got ours at the Holy Family Hospital, Bandra. We registered on the app and then went as walk ins. Paid Rs 250 each. There was hardly any waiting. The nurse who gave my jab was very efficient and it didn’t pain at all. I took a pic once we were done and as her colleague who clicked it said, ‘action to ho gaya (but the jab is over).’
Half an hour’s waiting and then home after filling up on bagels and bread at Baker’s Dozen. Shower and then a nourishing lunch of leftover mutton dhansak (made with the Tanaz Godiwala’s A Parsi Affair masala) and fresh chicken kebabs made by Banu. The best she has made so far
The next jab has to be taken within 6 to 8 weeks. We took a precautionary paracetamol at 5 pm as advised by our doctor friend. It is not absolutely necessary another doctor friend said. We have both been fine so far apart from the touch of soreness in the arm. Some say, day 2 could get a bit rocky. Fingers crossed. We have been home and resting. (K had lot of work calls). I missed meeting our neighbourhood cats. Smol, Laddumati, Toastie and gang.
Dinner is going to be sumptuous too. A vegetable packed Sindhi kadi. Made using the Abana Spices spice mix.
Folks please go and take the vaccine the moment you are eligible. And ensure that those in your family who are eligible get the vaccine too.
Many have worked really hard for this and we can restart our ‘normal’ lives only after the vaccination drive is complete. Think of all the people whose lives and livelihoods have been affected. We owe it to them.
The faster you start the better. Remember that the first jab is only the beginning of the process. There is one more to be taken 6 to 8 weeks later. Then a two week or so gestation period before the vaccine begins to act. So keep that in mind and get jabbed as soon as possible. Do urge your eligible household help to get the vaccine too and help if required with app etc. We are doing so.
PS: You are supposed to go on a full stomach so I made myself two Kolkata egg rolls for breakfast and a chubby two egg omelette for K.
