Coming to the idli vada pop up? |
I often hear the urgent honking of a hand-held horn after I wake up in the morning.
For a moment I think I am back at Bansdroni in Kolkata with cycle rickshaws and vans rushing by.
Then I look out of the window and realise that it’s the lone idli vada hawker, walking down the serene inner lanes of Bandra in Mumbai, calling out to the watchmen and drivers of the buildings there, his biggest market. Who then congregate over a cheerful breakfast pop up to start the day with.
It’s Sunday today though and I saw out cheerful and helpful young watchman have his medu vada & chutney treat alone as it’s an off day for the others.
