Pohe and chaha: Maharashtrian breakfast
Location: Aaswad

Breakfast  is one of the most important meals in a day for me.
It is said that only the very brave will try to speak to me before I’ve had my breakfast and my morning coffee. It’s also the one meal in the day I rarely make. I am not a morning person you see.
So I thought of sharing pictures of breakfast every morning on Instagram , starting with a series of Maharashtrian breakfast dishes that I shot at Aaswad for my article in JetWings. This is pohe, simple, uncomplicated, nourishing and loving, and one of my local favourites. It’s made with rice flakes and there are variations across the country.

I will post them on the blog too as much as possible. Minimalistic posts. Here’s my Instagram handle: @thefinelychopped
This one looked easy to make when I saw them make it at Aaswad. 2. Heat oil 2. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, salt, turmeric, red chilli powder 3. Add soaked pohe 4. Stir and finish off with some finely chopped fresh coriander.
It’s paired with Chaha or tea in the pic. I am a cappuccino person though.
