The most significant part about lunch yesterday was my finding that #kayteecooks had dislodged the piped gas pipe from the burner by mistake, possibly while cleaning. I figured it out only when I went to the kitchen at 3 pm to take my lunch and heard a pressure cooker like hissing sound which foxed me. I first thought it was coming from the neighbour’s kitchen. I then turned off the gas connection knob and the sound stopped. There was no odour of gas so I wasn’t sure what was going on. I quickly called Ramesh at Pali Market 098923 87330 whom we have known for years and who fixes these things. He told me what had happened when he listened to me describe the sound. Apparently piped gas doesn’t leave an odour. He sent someone to check and then came at 7pm with the part which he had gone to Dadar to get. We’d switched off the connection by then. Call this protection/ good fortune/ good karma whatever you want. First that I was home and spotted it,

second that I was able to get Ramesh and third, that living in this neighbourhood for 20 odd years has helped me come across some really good people (Ramesh in this case). I love Bandra so much simply because Bandra has loved me back many more times.

Food-wise the rotis had sand which was strange as the earlier ones with this flour didn’t have it, the dal was insipid but the achari bhindi worked well. I love doing things ‘achari.’ This is the recipe I’d given her yesterday:

Heat mustard oil

Add half a finelychopped onion and a garlic clove.

Add a teaspoon of pickle oil and masala. I used that from @vandana_jerajani ‘s dabla keri pickle.

Add chopped bhindi (ladies finger), adjust for salt and sauté.

Tasted good. She’d suggested adding a bit of of turmeric. I don’t know if she did that.

Oh and the @idfreshfood dahi was good.

AND thank you all for the goodwill and wishes you send our way. I am sure that helped save the day too. 🙏🏽
