“What are you guys doing tonight?”
“Come over”
“No, it will be a problem for you”
“Not at all. Just need to heat some food in the fridge and dial the phone”

Soon she arrived. Abolut. Teachers. Galauti. Kakori. Cheese and crackers. Conversations. Prawn curry heated. Kakori House Biriyani, the only Bombay biriyani approved by Bengalis, opened.

And then the moment came. Months of talking about a few of my favourite things. And writing about them. Noted by a good friend. A baking Goddess. The result? Bites of sheer ecstasy. Birthday wishes which continue even a month after the day.

For those so inclined – a chirpy chocolate sponge cake. A thick layer of wicked, wicked Nutella (“it’s your favourite) in between. Topped by gallant crushed hazelnuts. Held together with a sheen of dark, mysterious chocolate.

Thanks G
