Bohri thaal at Bohri Kitchen |
I had heard about the famous Bohri thaals of Mumbai for long without getting an opportunity to taste them.
In fact barring the stalls of the caterers Jeff’s and Safe at Bandra, there are hardly any options for people to try out for Bohri food in Mumbai. There are no Bohri restaurants as far as I know. None in Bohri Mohalla where I do my walks.
Which is why it was great fun when a few of us were invited over to try out the Bohri thaal at The Bohri Kitchen pop up in Cuffe Parade hosted by the Kapadias. We got to try the lovely Nafisa Kapadia’s cooking and joined my friends Ranveer Brar, Kurush, Rhea and Rushina to eat from the thaal.

It was quite a novel experience and the food was lovely.

Also sharing an initiative an initiative the Bohri Kitchen folks have started to help other home cooks:
Founders of the Bohri Kitchen, the Chef Nafisa Kapadia and the Chief Eating Officer Munaf Kapadia are willing to help individuals who want to setup their own home dining experience — by sharing their best practices and the lessons they’ve learnt in the last 6 months. They are doing this simply because they are overwhelmed by the joy that TBK’s success has brought to them — and want others to experience that same feeling and success as well.
If you’re somebody who is interested, i.e. you cook great food & are open to inviting guests home but need some help — simply drop Munaf/Nafisa an email at thebohrikitchen@gmail.com or drop them a message on their Facebook page
