‘You use stainless steel plates now,’ asked my mum on the phone after she saw a pic of my egg curry lunch the other day. There is a reason for her bemusement. As a pampered bilet born kid, I refused to eat on stainless steel plates after we moved into India. Till she read out the riot act when I was in my teens!
I bought this plate a couple of months back from Pali Market for insta to be honest. Then our windows got covered because of building work and the food pics looked like bilge thanks to the darkness at home. So I stepped out of our apartment and went to the landing AKA #CafeMaharani to click pics. The compartmentalised plate made life easy. As it is the construction workers must be laughing about the strange-man who shows his lunch to the sun every afternoon.
Mom would appreciate the amount of greens (spinach) on my plate too.
Funnily enough, when we were kids, dietary wisdom in Calcutta said eating wholewheat rotis instead of rice would help you lose weight. Now they are made out to be as evil as Rasputin by the gluten lobby! The meal was cooked by #kayteecooks and the pic has no filter. The pickles are from @maaspickles and @soam.babulnath
