Why I chose to crowdfund my book – The Diary of a Cat Dad – instead of sticking to traditional publishing?
As a diarist, my writing has been a reflection of my life and it is only fair that over the last two years, my life has been taken over by our cats. My wife strongly felt that my next book should be on them. I began writing it in 2021 but took a break from it as life got busy when other things. This year I decided to revisit the subject when LetsAuthor got in touch with me. Working with LetsAuthor has been an exciting ride. They’re new to the world of publishing, their business is different, and they bring a sense of freshness to the process. I missed this while working with legacy publishing houses. Creative people thrive on enthusiasm & LetsAuthor brings their passion into their work. Their business operates on ‘Open Authoring’ and crowdfunding campaigns, and I respect the expertise that their editors bring to the table. It feels they’re invested in your work.
Self-publishing wasn’t an option for me as I am a writer, not an entrepreneur. Unfortunately, traditional publishing houses & publications seem to be driven by market trends & what marketing departments feel will sell. I was very disheartened by their SEO driven mentality.
Which is why LetsAuthor ‘s crowdfunding route appealed to me. It lets people who believe in you, back your work. You feel motivated to keep pushing ahead. The model has worked very well internationally. I have friends who are writers abroad who have leveraged it well.
I truly believe that the crowdfunding model & open authoring is going to be the future of those who wish to have an independent voice in writing and publishing.
Ending this by requesting you all to ‘Become a Backer’ & help me publish my book https://bit.ly/3W5z7vH P
