‘We are here to stay.’ That’s the line I ended my story about my blog, FinelyChopped.net, turning 17 the day before.
I then added the line, ‘FOMO be damned’.
I suffered from a lot of FOMO when it came to work and this affected my relation with my blog. I felt that the world of content creation had moved on and that blogging, and therefore me, was not relevant. I would look at social media posts by influencers & food people and feel disheartened.
It took therapy, reading about successful people, talking to people whom I look up to, lots and soul searching and most importantly, talking to K, to help me tackle this. To see value in what I was doing, & enjoy it. In other words, ‘FOMO’ be damned.’
K and I went to Seefah to celebrate the occasion. The idea was to go to a neighbourhood restaurant where you are assured of good food.
Seefah and Karan, the talented and self assuming chef owners, of Seefah were there. They had read my post about the 17 year birthday and had decided to celebrate the occasion with us.
We had very tender isan pork, wok tossed mushrooms & lotus stem, prawns tossed in chilli oil and sea bass in chilli broth.
They got us to taste Khao Man Gai, their Thai chicken rice brand. This is a new foray by the young couple. You will get only chicken rice…steamed, grilled or deep fried here. I tried the deep fried version and was stunned by how the skin resembled pork crackling how it had bits of fat under it. Seefah said that the brand gets its name from that: rice, fat and chicken.
They plan to open 4,5 seater outlets which will sell these and it’s on the Seefah menu for now.
Karan said that the inspiration for KMG came from successful restaurants in the far east which focus on one dish. Seefah added that they plan to open slowly so that they are not overwhelmed.
Food was great.
And I got my answer. Follow your heart, do it your way, enjoy what you do, have fried chicken. FOMO be damned. Ps: They got us honey toast topped with ice cream to toast the occasion with. We were hosted by Seefah & that was a pleasant surprise. I have been fortunate to have so many have my back. I’ve made great friends through the blog. I will never question its worth again.
I love your posts. They make the ordinary day special.
The connect with the reader, and with food. Chronicling memories.
That’s what it’s all about.
Memories around food. What you feel. That’s special.
Thanks .
Thank you so much Archana. I am glad that this connects
