This is a collection of my Instagram posts from yesterday. My mood changed as the day progressed as the posts will show. The first one is the one I was keen to share with you.
Breakfast
I had a micro mini meltdown yesterday morning and suddenly felt very sad at that point.
I didn’t try to fight my feelings.
I knew what had caused it.
Lack of sleep, as I’d been sleeping late for the past few days. Plus the pain in my little toe which I’d stubbed a couple of days back.
I sat and chanted and slowly calmed down.
Then settled down with the boys (our kittens) for a bit and played with them. K took care of stuff around the house.
I didn’t post much on my social media. Took a break.
Did a work engagement in the afternoon. An enjoyable zoom meeting preceded by a tasting at home.
Took the rest of the day easy. Read. Napped occasionally. Continued to stay away from posting, answering DMs, unless necessary.
Felt better as the day progressed. Gradually.
Managed a decent amount of sleep and woke up feeling fresh today.
Fed the boys first thing. Made a joyous boiled egg, mayo and kasundi (by @thesareechef ) sandwich with the excellent sourdough that I’d ordered in from our friend Samprita of @paavwaali a couple of days back.
Yesterday seemed so far away. Thankfully!
Why did I share all this?
Just to say the times are tough. Tougher than what many of us have ever faced.
There will be days when we will feel defeated and overwhelmed.
Accept it. Don’t blame yourself.
Don’t force yourself to be stronger than you are.
Don’t compare yourself others. Their worlds might not be as Insta perfect as they seem.
Tell yourself it’s ok. Tell yourself that you will get out of it.
I am not one to advise you on how to handle things but I wanted to tell you that is fine if you are not strong all the time. No one is.
PS: The rest of the day has been full of action and thankfully I was ready for it.
Today was a slightly busy day at home and a very busy, but fulfilling day at work where I did 3 very exciting home chef Zoom interviews for our #mumbainativekitchen festival with @soulcompanyindia and then a more than hour long Zoom Q&A session for the branding and marketing course that I did for the @bakedemy #homebaker course.
Fuelled by this power packed #loveyourleftovers lunch of green moong sprout usal that Banu had made for me evening snack yesterday and the ‘freestyle’ mutton keema kebabs that our friend Shaswati made and sent last night, along with fresh jowar rotis made by Banu.
I added some Haldiram bhujia sev to the usal and imagined that I was having misal in Nasik!
Dinner
Dinner was a #loveyourleftovers affair too. An unplanned one!
I showed Banu how to make lau (bottlegourd) with the head of hilsa this afternoon and she made it along with rice for dinner.
Little Nimki went into the kitchen in the evening and I next saw him with a piece of the fish head on the floor. He loves ilish!
I had to think of what to do for dinner and on spotting sausages in the freezer, thawed some and made an egg fried rice with them and the rice. I discovered that these were cheese jalapeño sausages, which was rather funny for a fried rice, but the soya and sriracha sauce that I used took care of stuff and dinner was rather nice!
PS: I later removed the bones, washed it and gave the fish to the boys. Neither had it. Not even Nimki!
