While you might know a bit about Durga Puja in Bengal thanks to enthusiastic posts by us Bengalis, what you might not know about is the fun part which comes after the pujos and which is called bijoya. It happens in the days following the pujo and before Lokhi pujo where you go to the houses of friends, family and neighbours. Touch the feet of elders(pronam). Embrace peers (kolakuli). And get fed till you are stuffed. And then a bit more.

That’s what happened last evening when we were invited over by our friends the Basus of Bandra to an evening of bombastic food and happy adda.

Dorbesh from feast at east |
On the menu were gorgeous tuna cutlets and malpua made by Anita Boudi herself, luscious gigantic dorbesh and kochuri with a very beautiful alur dim from @feast_at_east, the softest chicken sandwiches in the world from @candiescafe and chicken kebabs from Soda Bottle. Now imagine being lavished with this generosity 4 or 5 times a day. That sums Bijoya in Kolkata for you.
Thank you Jayanta da and Anita Boudi, Priyanka and Vinnie
I plan to eat my next meal in November!
