A gentleman name Parvez Sidhwa DM’d me the other day saying that he has an Andheri based catering company called @bees_kitchen22 and would like to send us a sample of the Parsi food that they make.
DMs from folks I don’t know lie in my ‘hidden messages’ folder which I check sporadically. It took a while before I saw it.
I got in touch with him as
I love trying out Parsi food options.
We decided on last Sunday, after a fair bit of back and forth, where we tried to figure out a week where I was not eating out too much.
He sent mutton pulao dal, chicken and mutton cutlets, chicken Russian pattice, mutton sali boti and saas ni machhi; saarya and meva nu achar.
The cutlets (sp the mutton one) and Russian pattice were sick (that is Gen Z speak for ‘excellent,’ what we’d call kickass). The chicken was nice too. I took one RP to work the next day and had it at room temperature. The cheese and potato and chicken still made for a nice combination. The spicing of the cutlets were spot on.
I loved both the pulao and the dal. The dal a bit more. This was good stuff and I have had enough to know!
The food was flavourful. The dal and cutlets had a mild residual chilli kick.
The fish in the saas ni machhi was large and fresh. The gravy was a tad too sweet. The consistency was perfect. I’ve come across gloopy saas, this was not so.
The gravy in sali boti often turns out to be sweetish; This one was vinegary sweet but not excessively so, it was spicy too and with the salli added in, it made for a blockbuster combo.. the flavours were layered. The mutton in both the pulao and sali boti were tender. More so, in the salli boti.
The saarya (papar) and meva nu achar made for a nice combo.
Bees Kitchen is worth trying out, you will find the menu on their website. Parvez tells me that they deliver single person portions with a couple of hours notice. They have non Parsi dishes as well.
A little ‘warning’, the portions are quite generous.
Note: This was a hosted sampler.

Strange that he didn’t send any sweet dish like Lagan nu Custard or Caramel Custard along with the Lagan nu Bhonu type menu.
Perhaps I had told him that we avoid sweets
