A strange thing happened last night. There was egg curry and rice for dinner.
I decided to put that in the fridge and order some Chinese food instead.
That’s not the ‘strange’ part.
I do order in at times like a naughty boy even when there’s food at home.
I like deemer jhol bhaat (egg curry rice) TBH.
Had it for lunch today.
Felt so good.
So what was the strange part?
It was the fact that my dinner was selected by math? My eternal nemesis.
I am referring to algorithm.
That’s math right?
I looked up the menu of Mr Chow’s on Swiggy to order in last evening.
There was a section which said, ‘combos for Kalyan’!
I went through it and realised that they must have made these based on my orders over the years.
I chose Calcutta chicken & chicken Hakka noodles.
The quantity of needles was huge.
The chicken was for more than one.
The noodles were for 20 (hyperbole)!
I finished the chicken and a fair bit of the noodles. More than a fair bit truth be told.
There are two noteworthy things here.
1. The owner of Mr Chow’s and our friend, Rahul Velkar, had asked me for my feedback when I first ordered the Kolkata chilli chicken. I said that it was too hot and had too many breast pieces of chicken (I am not sure of the second point as it’s been a while).
The feedback had been taken it seems. The chilli heat level was perfect and all the chicken pieces were thigh pieces.
They didn’t know the order was for me as I’d used a delivery app.
The other good part, and a bigger thing, is that my mouth didn’t feel dry. My head didn’t buzz. The reasons for which I’ve stopped having Chinese food.
The only ‘sin’ that the food from Mr Chow’s committed was that it made me over eat. And how!
Ps: Baby Loaf sniffed the food and felt it was up to his dad’s standards.
(Chinese food, Indo chinese, chinese takeaway, Hakka noodles)
What do you prefer? Chilli chicken. With fried rice? Or with Hakka noodles?
