Never has my Instagram feed been so full of my own pictures! Don’t worry. I am not going the narcissistic influencer way!!!
When I want to show you a place or a dish, I will show you just that and not myself!
As I did when we came to Paris in 2017 on a holiday.
This time though, it’s all about sharing our smiles with you. And the sense of gratitude one feels. I still can’t believe that we are in Paris!!!
When K and I watched Emily in Paris in lockdown, we told each other, ‘we must return to Paris first thing.’
Paris is not Panchgani. Travel euros are precious.
The reality of life dictates that we look at new cities when we travel as there’s so much yet to see. Berlin is what we zeroed in on this time. I’d go there and K would join me from Cannes. I ‘did’ Cannes with her in 2017 and then said with typical Aquarian, first born, chip on the shoulder Bengali, misplaced chutzpah, ‘next time will be when they invite me to give a talk at the Cannes Lions on food trends!’
Then came my visa woes. I managed my Schengen through the French and nor German embassy (seriously guys! Why so sour!) & they were sweet enough to give me a 3 year visa!
‘It pays to be jobless,’ I quipped with self effacing humour which comes from being born in the damp island across the channel. ‘You are not ‘jobless’ protested my well wishers (just not in a 0900 to 2400 salaried one’) & my therapist (‘self effacing humour is good, but should be used judiciously’).
We changed bookings, paid more, as I had to spend an equal amount of time in France.
Paris it was again, with K joining me from Cannes.
Wait! ‘Had’ to?
We love Paris!
I enjoyed my two days of #solotravel.
Just as I look forward to the next 3 days of #oldfashionedlove now that she’s here.
#myparislist? To have none!
We ticked them all in 2017. The tower, Mona darling, hot chocolate at Angelina, macarons at every place, snails & croques.
This time it’s about #slowliving. Feeling grateful for the medium rare life one has. Pinching oneself to check that it’s not a dream. Wondering what one has done to enjoy such good fortune. Counting ones blessings, croissants & espressos.
Thank you Mon Cherie for not giving up on the holiday & making it happen ❤️
