Am rather proud of the omelette. Made the same for K’s lunch but with hummus inside. Rolled well |
Warning: This post teaches you nothing about folding omelettes. The heading is a play on a popular book title.
Are there days when a song gets stuck in your head? Mine today happens to be Mamma Mia from ABBA! Possibly because of the ABBA reference in the episode of ‘Murders in the Building’ that we watched last night. I sang it to Nimki after I woke up and found him by my feet; and later while making an omelette while our cleaning lady looked on. If there’s something I learnt in the last 3 years, it’s how to get fried eggs right and fold omelettes properly.
Too much positivity? I hear you.

Times are tough. I don’t think anyone in my generation and under has ever faced a crisis like we currently are. There are days when I sleep walk through the day, feel worried or demotivated. I have known what anxiety is. What depression is. Battling both a few years back prepared me for this perhaps but as even champions will tell you, no matter how much you practise, game day is game day!

I met Smol & Scooby yesterday morning when I went out for a walk |
Here are some things which have helped. Amazing support from my wife Kainaz. And some very close friends. My faith which tells me ‘never to give up.’ Asking for help. Finding the right doctors when required. I tried counselling recently and that’s worked fabulously for me in terms of answering questions that I have. I try to focus on the present. What’s under my control. At times I blank out news, social media or even whatsapps from people whom I know who are prone to sending depressing messages. Chanting helps me, yoga, going for walks, medication, counselling. Trying to develop compassion.

Little Nimki always joins me when I finish chanting |
My cat guardians, inside the house and on the street. I keep trying to keep myself creatively engaged without thinking of the results. I’ve realised that I love anchoring interviews and podcasts so I am hoping to launch one more and act on another. Above all, I post in the hope that it will make at least one of you smile. Even if for a second. Stay safe, do your best. And as I told someone this morning, someone very senior to me, it’s ok not to be unshakeable or invincible. How are we humans if we are not?

PS: I am no life coach or professional counsellor. I am just sharing from my life. The answer for each person is different and I sure hope you find yours while I keep seeking mine.
