A collection of Insta posts from the day that prove my point. It’s another issue that rummaging through the fridge in the morning was not what the doctor ordered for my back!
Breakfast:
Hum jeete hain shaan se. We live life kingsize.
The name of this Mithun Chakraborty multi-starrer from my school days came to mind when I sat for breakfast.
There was such genius all around.
Slightly toasted matured cheddar and caramelised onion sourdough by Samprita Sinha @paavwaali
Topped by:
1. Raspberry & rhubarb compote by @amalfarooque @sugaroverdose2011
2. Pistachio encrusted cream cheese balls & harissa by @amalfarooque @sageandolio
3. Labneh sweet potato & spicy Mayo dip @amalfarooque @sageandolio
The only wrong note was little Nimki’s ripping apart the harissa tub while we had breakfast.
Ah, Monday.
Lunch
I treat our fridge like Aladdin’s Cave. Specially when it comes to the condiments stashed in it.
Lunch today
Rawas done in the air fryer with @amalfarooque @sageandolio chimichurri dip.
Red bell peppers in the air fryer with @aditi.lk aglio olio dip.
A bit of sea salt sprinkled in both. Wrapped in two separate foils.
20 min at 200 C.
The superb fish was from Poonam.
Tea
I am a hoarder of pickles too.
Joining the capsicum parathas our cook Banu made for my evening snack today was the super spicy Maharashtrian green chilli pickle from Rambandhu Nasik, manageably spicy Gujarati green chilli pickle from Soam and sev from the Maharashtrian Diwali faral gifts that we have received.
Today’s lockdown pretend play was to imagine that I was on a train with Gujarati or Rajasthani co-passengers sharing their lunch with me.
The reality shorn of romance is that I would always decline these food offers in my student days as my mother would tell me not to take food from strangers as one could get drugged.
